Day 16: An experiment in self-portraiture

Hello readers,

Today I’m wearing: The Dress; stripy meshy top from Topshop via Oxfam; leggings and socks for warmth; beaded bracelet from South Africa; slippers from Ripon market.
Sadly today I was photographer-less, so these are a selection of self-portraits. This involved building a tower of things to balance the camera on, and then relying on the mercy of self-timer. As a result, I am in a foul mood.
This was when the camera started beeping instead of flashing, so I thought it wasn’t working and was about to defenestrate the stupid thing. AND I knocked my lamp off my desk and broke it.
Anyway, on to happier things.
Last night, Lindy, Michael and I went to the opera! It’s only £10 if you’re under 26, and Scottish Opera tend to put on excellent productions; we saw The Magic Flute in October, I think, and it was astonishingly good. Last night we saw Werther, and it was not so good. To be honest, the story was the main problem- the book is better than the opera- but the two leads overacted and by the end, I was just waiting for it to finish. It wasn’t all bad though: the music was wonderful and two of the supporting singers, the ones playing Sophie and Albert, were excellent. They would probably have been better leads, actually.
It has been a week of theatre; Linda and I went to see Matthew Bourne’s Sleeping Beauty on Wednesday. Now that was brilliant. If you haven’t seen a New Adventures production, you definitely should try next time they tour, or if you’re at a loose end in London. I’m not a dancer, and I don’t know anything about dancing, but I still get lost in these performances.
Here are some more selfies:
Beaded bracelet from my aunt
Bird and cage necklace from H&M I think. And you can see the ends of my plaits.
WE’VE BEATEN OUR TARGET! £1048.64. Wow wow wow wow. That is so kind and generous of you all, especially given the current financial climate. You’re such wonderful people.
But we’ve still got 12 days to go! So please, please donate. Here’s the link:
In other news:
Niall is 17 today, and about a foot taller than me, but he’s still my little brother. Happy birthday, bro.
Have a good Saturday night. I’ve got a tub of ice cream with my name on it (not literally, although that would be well ace.)
Caitlin x

Thank you for your donation, wee Joey; you're an angel.
